IF it were possible to provide the service at a lower cost to the consumer, the LESSER prices would appear because of competition. So you are incorrect that the owner would pocket the extra money if costs of doing business were lower, as competition wouldn't allow it. However, bad municipal business policy making business have to charge more, hurts consumers as that cost is passed onto the consumers, many of which are also workers. So that "extra" money the worker would make would in turn be paid out in the higher costs of goods. |
