But the rise in the price for fuel is not an issue of supply and demand, says former Senator Byron Dorgan (D-ND), who helped shape the nation's energy policy as chairman the Senate Indian Affairs Committee and three subcommittees.

Why does Indian Affairs craft the Nations Energy Policy?

"There is no justification for the current gas prices. This is all about speculation by the people who are speculating on the price of oil and gas," he says. "We could shutdown excess speculation in commodity markets. This government should do that."

That's impossible. We could have one person set the price like Maxine Waters depending on the political climate. or we can have an international market that is way too big and liquid for one or two people to deal with the price at all.

If it were as simple as "speculating" about the price of oil, why aren't you or Dorkgan rich right now? All you gotta do is buy one oil future contract right?

There's an oversupply in the US and overdemand overseas. I'm guessing it's Dorgans fault that the US is now exporting it's gas. Why are we exporting gas under him with gas at $4/gallon???
