Oh, you better believe it. If this case goes to court, that ACR will be ten feet tall on an overhead projector, right in front of the jury. Both sides will have instructors from the local Fire or EMS Academy as expert witnesses to pick apart the ACR to a fare-thee-well. Great emphasis is placed on report writing in EMT classes, because if it isn't documented, it never happened. Trust me, on a call like this one, the medics dotted every i and crossed every t because even at the scene, it was probably VERY clear this was eventually gonna end up in court, either as a criminal or civil case. If they let Zimmerman go, it was because the man was fine. Believe that.I had several of my jobs go to court because they were homicides, and one of the first things the DA puts on to establish the person's injuries was my ACR. It';s a BIG part of court cases, because we are always among the first to arrive, and the first to assess the medical condition of the person. |
