I suspect that many over the counter drugs can have serious side effects if they are used improperly or used to excess. I suspect that the dangers and benefits were weighed before Tylenol was okayed to be sold over the counter. However, you make my point. When was the last time you bought a bottle of Tylenol and were told by the check-out girl at PATHMARK that there are potential side effects? My contention is that the potential dangers posed by oral contraceptives is enough reason for continued distribution via prescription and under the close supervision and monitoring of a licensed medical practitioner. |
