The fact the it's not the greatest cause of cervical cancer doesn't mean that it should be ignored. Women who are in high risk groups may not be aware of that status unless it is discussed with a health practitioner. Beside which, cervical cancer or cancer in general is not the only risk women face. Progesterone based contraceptives also come with a risk of causing hypertension, stroke and heart attack. I realize that the clerk at Walmart can tell the woman about the risks but is that same person working the register going to do the screening too? |
