I've believe that immigrants' children are exposed to a greater desire for academic success than children who can trace their American roots back several generations.That's not the reason. Especially from the poorer countries (save Mexico), immigrants tend to be a select group, as there are huge barriers against international travel placed upon them that selects for the more accomplished/determined individuals. The average IQ of (non-refugee) African immigrants for example is 115 (as testified by an Ethiopian physics professor I once had), 3σ above the mean IQ there. I myself am a second generation Jamaican, like most of the Blacks at these elite schools... |
