If you affirm it's a gift, and it truly is, there should be no state sales tax. There may be a Federal and state gift tax due at year end.New York State has no gift tax, and Federal gift tax doesn't kick in unless the gift is worth more than $13,000. Either way, it's the responsibility of the donor, not the recipient. |
