SAT tests are excellent predictors of one's ability to do well on standardized tests. They reward hard work and kids whose parents have the time and energy to introduce their kids to intellectual concepts. They penalize laziness*, lack of interest in intellectual pursuits*, and kids whose parents are working two jobs and have no spare time.

Most corporate and political leaders (if we can use those as measures of "success") did not do really well on their SAT tests.

* Traits which many kids grow out of as they get older.
