It's the very nonchalant attitude that's being exhibited by certain posters concerning how much input a parent should have in areas outside of education. If this is actually going on, parents should not have to run for the school board to insure that their children are eating what the parents deem healthy (so long as the child's health is not being endangered). To tell people that if they want their children to have a turkey sandwich and a banana for lunch instead of processed chicken nuggets, they should run for office - is going way out of bounds. One must wonder if such people ever had their own children, would they cede so much control over their children to bureaucrats. If so, then perhaps it's a good thing that they never had children. |
