One difference is that I no longer see kids playing ball or other street games after school. In fact I see very few kids playing on the street (or in parks). I've wondered where they are. That's not just Flushing, that's all communities nowadays. They are all inside playing video games and stuff. Gone are the days of kids all over the street or parks, at least on the scale of years ago. That has been slowly ending since the 80's already. This has less to do with a neighborhood turning "Asian" than it does to different technologies keeping kids indoors. |
