If it's the second clause, it's because blacks don't see the value of the Republican platform. Some will argue that blacks are being practical and class conscious and rather pessimistic about their position vis à vis the rest of American society.Lincoln freed the slaves, but the slaves themselves had to decide to leave the plantation. Why on earth would blacks view the status quo as a lesser evil than Republican ideology? |
