For example, I can't even count on both hands how many times I've seen a starting pitcher have a monster game, give up only 1 or 2 runs, and get charged with an "L" because his offense is completely inept at scoring. Meanwhile, I've seen QBs get wins (like Tebow) for simply being good enough not to lose.
Tebow isn't a great quarterback. If he was on a team with a worse defense (such as Carolina) we wouldn't be having this discussion right now. The fact that the Denver defense didn't gel until Tebow became the starter is really more of the story. If the Denver defense played as well as it had during Tebow's incredible streak at the beginning of the season, Orton would still be the starting QB in Denver.
Plus, while the Bills scored a pile of points yesterday, many of them were attributed directly to Tebow and not to the Denver defense. Your defense isn't responsible for pick 6s and the ensuing extra points.
