Was Lee Mazzilli hired to by the Mets to appeal to ethnic-obsessed Italian neighborhood types in Queens, Brooklyn and Long Island? Yes, he was. Did you join the Army.........ah forget it. It happens. Tebow is not that much of a draw because he's Baptist.

Mo, Reyes and Pujols are GOOD

Yes they are. And if someone struck out Pujols and pointed to God only when striking him out it would be seen as knocking his religion. In the case of Tebow, it's cool because he's a white Baptist. It's that simple. It's about who Tebow is as a human, not his performance on the field.

Josh Hamilton is pretty good I'd say and many were upset with his comments about Jesus after the 2010 AL

Nobody in the general public knew who Rivera, Pujols or Reyes were when they first came up.
One probably even had to endure a hard time trying to figure which Rivera or which Reyes one was talking about in their rookie years.

So what? Football is different. Guys come up through the highly visible college ranks and often have a "name" before playing in the NFL. Tebow is not the only celebrated player. Look at Cam Newton. He signed the biggest endorsement deal for a rookie ever. He has offers worth more than most guys who have played for years can only dream of signing. But he's not a white evangelical so no one wants to see him fail or is bothered by his UA endorsement.
