If these methods produce better results do work (which is far from clear at this point), they would only do so by increasing student motivation, since what students can learn and how quickly is limited by their intellect. Of course, the effects, if any are bound to be small for the majority of the student population (a minority of children with special needs however likely benefit greatly from individualized attention). And of course, this will certainly narrow the achievement gap between Whites and people of color, which, in America anyway, is the primary preoccupation of educational policy. |
