Damn! That IS staggering. And I thought our bureaucracy was bad!For comparison's sake: for Flanders, secondary education, the numbers are 62,500 teachers, 7,800 other employees, for 450,000 students. Though the teacher numbers do include principals and teachers in so-called 'pre-retirenment', so the number of active teachers is probably closer to 50,000. Still, that shows more than anything that the problem in the US seems to lie with priorities. |
