I think that you are trying to reach some sort of compromise or middle ground. Whether the state should be in the "marriage business" has nothing to do with gay marriage and the fact that gays may get the right to marry is not reason to suddenly discover that you're really in favor of civil unions. It's such a cop out. If gay marriage weren't on the horizon no one would be mentioning civil unions. |
