Theoretically, the closest to "Allah" in Hebrew may be "YHWH". However, Judaism long had a ban on pronouncing that name because it was too sacred - so they substituted "Adonai" (the Lord/ the Eternal) and "HaShem" (literally, "The Name"). I grew up with God being referred to in prayers largely as "Adonai".Shalom is essentially Salaam - peace and a greeting. |
