Actually here, you might be ON to something. Given what's been going on in this thread and the fact that I spent better than 15 years in political journalism, figured I'd toss on the hat for a few minutes since I've seen this trick many times before.As it turns out, deLeon is on the INSURANCE committee and is also on the health and labor committees. He's a freshman from 2010 from the San Diego area. He's trying to establish himself as a labor-friendly Hispanic advocate and so this angle is part of his political play. I can only add that after introducing this bill however, he just received some substantial campaign money from Kaiser Permanente and some other insurance companies all of which are in the worker's compensation market. I'll leave it there since I really don't want to waste the time reviewing the specific amounts ... |
