Even I had to learn how to put "hospital corners" on my bed at home.

If one tosses that little card, available at most hotels, on the bed, they won't change the linens for an extended stay. Otherwise, I imagine it was as when I was in college: bottom sheet to the laundry, top sheet to the bottom position. So, I agree, there would have to be a supply of fitted and flat sheets for each bed since they are no longer interchangeable.

Similarly towels. Leave them on the floor to be replaced; hang them to be reused.
