"A Navajo Nation lawmaker also strongly objected to honoring a gun that killed his people and so many others during its long history in the American West."As they say, God made man, and Colt made men equal. The M1911 (slightly modified version is the M1911A1) is a great handgun. Trivia: during WWII Union Switch and Signal made 50,000 M1911's for the war effort (as did other companies, in varying amounts). Oh, btw, the M1911 is a *semi-automatic* pistol, not an automatic pistol. Whoever wrote/edited the story does not know the distinction, which is commonly also blurred by lawmakers trying to pass anti-gun laws to scare people. |
