How soon we forget. It took weeks of investigative reporting to get the truth out of him. Much like all Clinton scandals, it was more about his lying and covering up what he did than the deed itself. Clinton and Dick Cheney both received the same legal deferment. Clinton did not want to admit that he used his influence to garner a deferment because it would make him look as if he did not want to serve, still a big deal in 1992 and something that would not look good in light of George HW Bush's heroic service in the Navy during WWII. |
