Do these girls strike you as "ghetto"? They seem like regular middle-class girls. They could be. We don't know. Ghetto was just a place at one time. Today, it's a mentality and a lifestyle. These girls seem like lifestyle or mentally ghetto, when in reality, they enjoy a nice middle class lifestyle. I guess you're saying that they're simply culturally black. Actually I'm just saying they are black. If they were middle class, then this is an example of what is known as "regression towards the mean." Blacks and Latinos that are middle class have a higher average IQ than their respective general populations. However, their children will be closer to their group averages in IQ and all other traits (this is true of all races). This is what I suspect may be going on in LI and other suburban areas; black and brown people that escape the ghetto and settle in nice middle class neighborhoods have children that are closer to their group means. In the case of black and brown people, this means more ghetto-like behavior. |
