Except that Democrats LOWERED taxes in 2009-10.Perhaps a better phrase would be "spend more and tax less" liberals; granted that there are also "spend more and tax less" conservatives. In the great recession that began in 2008, a "spend more and tax less" policy may have been justified as a means of stimulating the economy. According to Keynesian economics that's the right thing to do; but in good times you should tax more and spend less, and not enough politicians are willing to do that. |
