You are the one pulling for straws, not the people saying a person that hasn't posted in three years, and is dead no less, does not fit into "several people on this board apparently do...".
Furthermore, the only other example you have given was from someone with strong RELIGIOUS beliefs, yet has never claimed those religious beliefs should be reflected in Secular law. "The rath of God" is not the same as someone saying something should be punishable by law. The "rath of God" is completely subjective as it's intangible and you either believe it or you don't. Secular law is quite tangible.
