Had the Russian guy who owns the Nets pushed it, I'm sure he could have reached an accord with the USTA had he offered to build the roof. Along with some profit sharing from the games, they would have both made out like bandits.Then they could have teamed up with the Islanders people who could have offered to pay to make the place convertible for hockey. Ashe Stadium lies fallow almost the whole year as is. |
