Bullshit.There's a REASON for collective bargaining in government. Employees are grouped into "bargaining units." Some states have only one for all, many have multiple bargaining groups. Do you know what this DOES for a state? It allows ALL employees to have their salaries adjusted annually or over a period of multiple years. Unions arrange the health and other benefits for the employees RATHER THAN the state. But the BIG savings is that the governor's office sits down with representatives of those employees and hammers out (usually with legislative approval) the work conditions, titles and payments to large numbers of employees. It's extremely efficient and saves a tremendous amount of money because those unions handle the negotiations between their group and the issuers of the benefits and turn around and charge their members for administration of it all except for the pension system which is usually separate. Do you know how it USED to be? VERY LARGE HUMAN RESOURCES DIVISIONS who had to sit down with EACH employee. Now think of how much THAT will cost and get back to me. |
