While Paladino may find Pride Parades 'disgusting", he's apparently OK with collecting rent from gay clubs in his Buffalo buildings. Paladino's son, William, even operated such a gay club, caled Cobalt, once known as the hottest gay club in town. In 2005, William Paladino and Cobalt's other owner changed Cobalt into a straight club, fioring all its gay employees, and began having difficulties, including a 2006 stabbing, and the loss of its liquor license for selling alcohol to minors. (Interesting how these problems happened after the club "went straight>, no?)Meanwhile, Paladino's gay nephew, Jeff Hannon, has not been back to work as a Paladino campaign aide since his uncle's remarks on Sunday. Hannon is described as being "upset by all the [media] attention", and hasn't spoken to the press since Sunday. Yup, if I was being rolled out as a homophobic relative's "gay nephew" in order to boost said relative's image after smearing the LGBT community to which I belong, I'd be "upset", too! |
