I think a lot has to do with the minister too though.The only different I have noticed at AME as opposed to Methodist is that the congregation was a bit more into it. But if you want to compare an AME church to a different branch Black church, the AME is almost snooze time compared. But again, a lot has to do with the congregation too. I find Catholics to be the most dazed and unresponsive. Aside from the "Catholic aerobics" of having to stand sit stand kneel stand kneel they whole mass, it's the only thing that keeps you awake in there. Most protestant churches have the congregation much more enthusiastic (but again, this is just in my experience). But then there's a fine line, as while I don't want to fall asleep, I also can't handle when the congregation is "so into it" that they are basically in a trance either (as with Evangalists). But then again, I rarely go to church anymore to begin with, so not that it much matters either way.... |
