I've been working on the release candidate - that should have happened instead of beta2 with the new 8.1 kernel. Unfortunately, Gnome 2.30 is *so* screwed up, I couldn't use it. Been going back and forth with Joe, Igor and Chin to get the bad code fixed and have a build going now with what should be their new fixes. Will be testing it all night. Once it's rock solid (which I don't expect tonight) then we'll go for a RC build which will similarly be released like our betas.Once I'm *certain* that it's as bulletproof as the old code, then we'll put it out for one lst testing cycle publicly and if it passes, then we'll worry about a formal release. You know how I am about *perfect* and can't guess as to when this new one will be so. And it won't be released until it is, as has always been our custom. Hopefully I'll have a better idea of where we're at later tonight ... FWIW though, no complaints at all on the beta2 we released ... but that's still the older 8.0 code and not the 8.1 ... |
