Nicole Polizzi (born November 23, 1987), publicly known by her nickname Snooki, is an American television personality who appeared on the MTV reality show Jersey Shore starting in 2009. Early life Nicole Polizzi was born in Santiago, Chile.[2] Polizzi is Chilean (of Italian Chilean descent),[3] and was adopted and raised by Italian American parents.[4] Her nickname, Snooki, was given to her by her friends in middle school, and is based on the character "Snooki the cootchie crook" from the film Save the Last Dance because she was the first of her friends to make out with a boy.[5][unreliable source?] Polizzi at a party in Chicago Polizzi presented an award at 2010 CMT Music Awards [6] and has also appeared on Jay Leno.[7] On July 27, 2010, the cast of Jersey Shore appeared at the New York Stock Exchange and Polizzi rang the opening bell.[8] MTV first introduced Polizzi in the first season of "Is She Really Going Out With Him", a show that tells the story of "sweet girls" and the "douchebags" they date. Season 1, Episode 14 tells the story of Nicole and Justin the "Jerz Pud".[9] Jersey Shore Polizzi then entered the reality TV scene on the season premiere of the show Jersey Shore which first aired on MTV December 3, 2009. Nicole Polizzi lives in Marlboro, New York.[2] Polizzi was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct on the afternoon of July 30, 2010 in Seaside Heights, the New Jersey beach town where the MTV show is based, after beachgoers reported she was bothering them. She was issued a summons and released the same day.[10] |
