Why do Muslims want to build such a big mosque and cultural center at ground zero?

One thing I've noticed about all mosques in NYC is that they are small, one-story or two-story buildings.

Steinway Ave. Jamaica. McDonald Ave. All are very small structures.

Now, all of a sudden Muslims want to build a 13-story building, unlike any existing Muslim facility in NYC. So why THAT location?

We all know why.
