We have a microbrew bar in Patchogue neer me (Brickhouse), and they have a "Summer Buzz" beer that is 8 or 9%. There "normal" beers are about 5-6%.

As for bottled beer, I think they have to put it on the label on beer if they are more than 4 or 5%, as you often see the content on higher alcohol beers like Ice beers or MolsonXXX etc.
