Men from Africa have used "rap" for hundreds of years. Chanting to the beat of the drums and other instruments lead the way for what we traditionally know today as rap.The first traditional rap artists were: Kool DJ Herc Grandmaster Flash Grand Wizard Theodore The Sugarhill Gang Afrika Bambaataa Kurtis Blow The Sugar Hill gang had the first mainstream popular rap song, "Rappers Delight" in 1979. |
