If only because that doesn't go after the root of the problem---my major opposition to it; I would support a measure going after the root of the problem.The root of the problem is that the federal government refuses to do anything to stop this. A start would be reclassifying being here illegally in and of itself as an IIRIRA-deportable offense, without another crime being needed. That's not under a state's jurisdiction. The federal government (which refuses to do anything for decades) would need to do that. Arizona is doing what it can, since the federal government isn't. |
