According to wikipedia (I know) the indigenous population when Europeans arrived was likely between 15 and 18 million people. 400 years later after a century of trying to reverse the trend there are still only 5 million (3.5 million not including mixed race). If this were any other country besides our own the term "genocide" might get tossed around. |
