I thought "Black Irish" came from the survivers from the ill-fated Spanish Armarda. Some Spanish crew memebrs abandaned ship off the coast of Ireland and were taken in and hidden with the native Irish. In time they intermarried and their offspring had the dark brown/black hair phenotype that 'SURF was talking about. |
