From WABC Channel 7 Eyewitness News:

NYC Schools Closed Wednesday Due To Weather

New York(WABC)- In preperation of tomorrow's snow event, NYC schools will be closed.

Chancellor Joel Klein put out the following statement

"Due to anticipated inclement weather conditions, all NYC public schools will be closed tomorrow, Wednesday February 10, 2010. All after-school activitivies and PSAL events will be cancelled. While travel conditions to school in the morning might not be difficult, the weather is expected to worsen as the day progresses, complicating dismissal. We are making this decision today to give parents as much time as possible to make alternate plans for tomorrow."

Last March, the administration decided relatively late, 5:39a.m., to call the snow day for its' 1.1 million public school students, prompting a last-minute scramble for parents and teachers.

The last time school was cancelled before that was January 2004.

The forcast now is eight to thirteen inches in New York City and Long Island and possible wind gusts up to 35 to 45 miles per hour from this third winter storm.

(Washington, D.C. - forcast of maybe ten to twenty (more) inches and Philadelphia - forcast of maybe ten to eighteen (more) inches.)
