There's a few problems with charity. First the resources are limited to what to people give to the charity to redistribute. In tougher times, when the need is acute, there is less overall since people scale back charitable contributions based on their own dwindling bottom line. Second is the expectation that, in many cases, one subscribe to, belong, or otherwise tolerate indoctrination of a particular belief set.....the common story of listen to the lecture on sin before getting dinner, or the Mormons (also seen in some FAG churches) practice only providing charity to needy church members. This is actually counter to the concept of charity, which is supposed to be giving for its own sake, without strings attached.

It is for these reasons that an alternative MUST be sought, particularly in a secular society such as America has been established to be. No doubt charity has its role to augment same, but should never be considered the primary provider of resources for the needy.
