My problem is this moron advocating and people believing his global wasming "Sky is Falling" rhetoric.How is that any different from the people who advocate their belief that Islam is going to take over the world? Global Warming beliefs are centered on drawing conclusions based on correlations between physical data sets. We have measurements of carbon dioxide, sea level, temperature, and so on and thus can forecast off into the future. A different conclusion can of course be reached, but it will be reached through a varying interpretation of scientifically sound data. OTOH the theories centered on Islamofacism are based entirely on subjective anectodal evidence of some percieved slight to their host culture. At least the real hardcore AGW fanatics have some scientific backing for their paranoia, it beats the hell out of the paranoia and xenophobia exhibited by those who espouse fears of Islamofascism. The video-clip just shows how shakey his science is. The video clip only shows that he is prone to use hyperbole in his interview. This is something we knew in the 1990s and which SNL used to great comic effect in the 2000 campaign. Anyone who has watched anything he's put out without a critical eye toward his tendency to overstate matters is doing themselves a disservice. If it happens that they were not aware of his tendency toward hyperbole then I hardly see how that's Al Gore's fault. Besides, hyperbole seems to have been a theme of the 2000 election. How many tons of WMDs and manufacturing facilities was Iraq supposed to have had again? A few thousand? |
