I feel the same way about that too although I have to admit I am sometimes guilty of that in one of my vehicles. (I drive 5 vehicles, 2 cars, 2 motorcycles, and a mail truck) My 2004 Camry does not make any sound at all when the blinkers are on. My 2005 Corolla and the mail truck make the usual clicking sound. So sometimes I do forget to shut it in the Camry.

Cars should have self cancelling directional lights like motorcycles have. On bikes, since you don't steer, they automatically go off after a certain distance, the distance is longer the higher speed you're going.
