Technically, we have. In 1976 we lost the World Series to the Reds; in 1980 the ALCS to the Royals; in 2001 the World Series to the Diamondbacks: in 2003 the World Series to the Marlins and in 2004 the ALCS to the Red Sox.Grand Concourse was referring to Yankee World Series victories not just appearances. That last Yankee victory in a Republican Administration came in 1958. The irony is that Steinbrenner was convicted of campaign finance violations in the 70's for contributing to Nixon's slush fund and is a staunch Republican. |
