But in the end, Reagan was the perfect puppet for the party. Reagan wrote a lot of his own stuff, and he was adept at improvising. And he was no puppet for the party, he was the puppet master, forcing the GOP over to the right after the fiasco of Watergate and the disastrous Ford administration. Everything you attribute to Reagan is wrong.
