Yes, a daily newspaper that you can buy and read on the train can be a comforting way to start the day: last night's late scores, the next installment in a serialized comic strip, the review of the movie you're interested in seeing. And a way to get more details of a big story that recently broke but you don't have time to watch on the news before leaving the house.In that respect, it's kind of like the morning coffee. How many times has the POST been on the verge of closing, only to have a last-minute reprieve? It seems like a publicity stunt. F.A.O. Schwartz and the Bayside branch of Ben's Deli had heavily publicized impending closures that made the TV and newspapers. Guess what? They're both still open. How about that!! |
