On the other issue, universal healthcare, the major reason why I believe it will die is:1. Amy Klobuchar (United Health is headquartered in Minnesota). 2. Arlen Specter and Bob Casey, Jr. (Cigna is headquartered in Philadelphia). 4. Joe Lieberman and Chris Dodd (yes, that Chris Dodd; most other healthcare insurance companies are headquartered in Connecticut). Those five Democrats are going to be key, especially Lieberman and Dodd. The big wildcard is: Would government employees get to keep their health insurance (Emblem Health in much of the Northeast), or would governments drop their plans as a result? |
