The summer after high school graduation I was working at the combined Geno's/KFC off Route 4 in Hackensack hard by Bergen Tech. During Thursday, Friday, and Saturday evenings there was always a rush and I'd fall behind the orders and I mean way, way behind. The chicken was easy but I got overwhelmed by the hamburger orders. Those poor people who ordered a plain hamburger with nothing on it might get one with lettuce and cheese and Thousand Islands dressing and those lost souls who wanted a Big Mac might get one but just as often might get a dry hamburger with a pickle on it. It was ridiculous. I remember one time things were going "south in a hurry" and people were coming back into the store complaining. Rocco the Manager finally came out of the office in his shirt and tie and he was like "WTF are you guys doing?" It was a disaster and still haunts me to this day. |
