Hey Karl, I might have even met him once.

I remember for either my eighth or ninth birthday, I bought a Marklin Railbus (unpowered)for about $10. It was cheap because it was a display model from a layout. They were willing to sell display models at heavily discounted prices if you asked. I couldn't afford to get a brand new one as it was at least twice the price, but when the salesman told me and my mom that he can give me the one sitting in the layout for half price, I grabbed it. It was in perfect condition and they even got me the original railbus box to put it in. And I still have it!

I can understand celebrities buying Marklin models. Even in the 70's, $300 for a good quality locomotive was pricey. Not too many 'average' people bought trains there. But they were great to look at.
