And NYC is not an American city anymore, so you know what that means.??? There are many immigrants here, but the vast majority are making their best effort to be Americans. Almost everyone who wants a job learns English - there are very few jobs that don't require mingling with people who don't speak the immigrant's native language. I'm often amused when one foreigner oomes into a retail establishment staffed by a foreigner of a different origin, as they both make themselves understood to each other in broken and heavily accented English. |
