When they start picking beaks and feathers out of the plane's engines, then NY1 will have to backpedal. Other networks are reporting that Capt. Sully DID activate the "ditch switch". The fact that the plane isn't at the bottom of the Hudson would seem to bear this out.

From what I'm hearing, they have discovered the location of at least one engine. It is reasonable to think the plane barbecued a couple dozen geese, because Rikers Island, at the west end of Runway 4-22, is like a goose sanctuary. The geese are literally everywhere.
