If the Feds really wanted to be mean, they could drag the aircraft off the pier in the Battery Park where it is now, and turn it over to the maritime Receiver Of Wrecks, because it is in the water, after all. That would keep it out of the hands of unscrupulous scrap dealers.In reality, however, the plane will be torched or cut up. Salvage metals are worth lots of $$$ these days. |
