"Still no marches scheduled for south LA to protest the 70% black vote for the ban on gay marriage"

Blacks in South LA suffer from deep cultural and educational deprivation. As a consequence, many are dependent on demagogues for what they "know." They get their education not from school, but from some shitbag who runs a storefront "church" (as common as liquor stores) and exploits them. Naturally that person is going to be a homophobe and perpetuate all the myths.

I used to work in aerospace in the mid-1980s. There were 70,000 people working where I was, and one out of six had a master's degree or Ph.D. Barely two miles away was the ghetto and nobody there had a snowflake's chance in a hot oven of getting hired where I worked. We had an ioen house where we invited local kids to look at partly built spacecraft, aircraft radars ad other things. We let them play with electron microscopes. Maybe 1 in 25 got inspired enough to pull themselves out of the gutter and do something useful in life.

Instead of striving for knowledge, they follow opinion leaders who perpetuate the same kinds of stereotypes that helped keep opportunity away from blacks.
